Retired Chief of Police, Mr. Willard K. Griffin, 80, of Monticello, MS passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Lawrence County Hospital in Monticello. Willard was born December 14, 1938 in Lawrence County to Walter Griffin and Maxine Buchanan.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2019 from 12:00 PM until service time at 2 PM at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello, MS, with graveside services following in Monticello Municipal Cemetery. Bro. Michael Smith will officiate the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Willard served as Monticello Chief of Police for 27 years and Lawrence County Sheriff`s Department for a total of 38 years of service until he retired in 2005. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather and friend to many. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Monticello.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years Joyce Griffin of Monticello, MS. Children, Elizabeth Wilson of Monticello, MS; Kent Nations and wife Mary Ann of Sontag, MS and Gina Naef of Brandon, MS. Grandchildren, Justin Wilson and wife Maria of Monticello, MS; Jessica Nations and husband Toby of Monticello, MS; Millaine Hogue and husband Chase of Starkville, MS; Daniel Nations of Sontag, MS; Kayla Naef of Brandon, MS and Zach Naef of Brandon, MS. 8 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital in Jackson, MS.
