Mr. Wayne R. Cothern, 79 of Jayess, MS passed away on January 28, 2019 at his residence in Jayess, MS. Wayne was born June 19, 1939 in Jayess, MS to Claude and Buena Beard Cothern.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 from 5 PM until 9 PM at Providence Baptist Church in Jayess and continuing Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 9 AM until service time at 1 PM at Providence Baptist Church with graveside services following in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Scott Johnson and Dr. Will Wall will officiate the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Wayne retired from the Lawrence County Schools as a teacher. He enjoyed sports, horses and after retiring he enjoyed doing woodwork. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
He is survived by his wife Mary Sue Ard Cothern of Jayess, daughter Tammy Ladd and husband Clay of Monticello; sons Jeff Cothern and wife Darleen of Brandon, MS, Keith Cothern and wife Debra of Jayess, MS and Shannon Cothern and wife Angela of Jayess, MS; one brother Steve Cothern; grandchildren Clay and Mark Ladd, Zane and TY Cothern, Taylor Cothern Ellis, Delton Cothern, Briana and Abbie Errington, Dale and Devin Hooks, Don Ragsdale; one great grandchild Luke Ellis.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Margie Allen; one grandchild Jordan Lane Cothern.
