Obituary

Virgie Pauline Wallace, 92, was called home from this life on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at her residence in the presence of her loving family in Monticello, MS. Mrs. Wallace was born April 16,1923, in Lincoln County, MS to Virgil and Mary Williams Givens.

Visitation will be at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello, MS on June 12, 2015, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue Saturday, June 13, 2015, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Wilson Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow in Divide Methodist Protestant Church Cemetery in Monticello, MS. Bro. Bobby Lambert, Bro. Joey Faulk and Bro. Carlos Dawson will officiate the services. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and wife, who was known for her great gumbo, large Sunday dinners, and her love of fishing, Duke basketball and Atlanta Braves baseball. She was a homemaker. She loved spending time with her family along with her husband. They held the distinction of being the longest married couple in Mississippi. They were married for 75 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother. She enjoyed life and never met a stranger. She was always willing to do anything for anyone. Her presence in all of our lives will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Mary Williams Givens; son, Hubert Earl Wallace; daughter, Yvonne Wallace; brother, Willard Givens; and sisters, Ethel Spiess, Audrey McGregor and Irene Dufrene.

Survivors are her husband of 75 years, Kimble Wallace of Monticello, MS; son, Kimble Wallace Jr. and wife Kathy of Monticello, MS, and Ronnie Wallace and wife Sherri of Jayess, MS; daughter, Shelia Wallace Smithie and husband Bobby of Jayess, MS; 5 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandson; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers are Paul Wallace, Thomas Plunkett, Jerry Smithie, Lane Sistrunk, Brian McGregor and Andy Smithie.

Honorary pallbearer is David Smithie.

The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the staff of St. Luke's Hospice, and to her caregivers, Bobbie Cothern, Maxine Rutland, Trish Johnson, Darlene Lamb and Megan Hutchinson.
