Velda Lou Calhoun, 64 of Silver Creek, MS passed away Friday, October 17, 2025 at her son's residence in McCall Creek, MS. She was born Thursday, September 14, 1961 in Monticello, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24,  from 12 until  1 at New Life Church in Monticello with Memorial services to follow at 1. Bro. Jay Thompson will officiate. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 601-587-2573

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Bennett; son, Stephen Barnett; father, Robert Dyess; mother, Mary Lou Turner Dyess; brother, Jackie Dyess.

Survivors include her sons, Brian Barnett (Cindy) of Mc Call Creek, MS, Jackie Ward of Silver Creek, MS; brother, Jimmy Dyess (Missy); sister, Kay Dyess; grandchildren, Austin Barnett (Sara), Michael Barnett (Kiera), Kayla Carr (Curtis), Jessica Barber, Cody Norris, Ember Pearson, and Steven Norris; step grandchildren, Jessica Smith (Dawson) and Michael Littlejohn (Chelsea); seven great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
