Obituary

Mr. Thomas "Tommy" Reid, 63 of Jayess, MS passed away on July 5, 2019 at his residence in Jayess, MS. Tommy was born February 9, 1956 in Tylertown, MS to Dennis and Merle Wyles Reid.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2019 from 1 PM until service time at 3 PM at Topeka Baptist Church in Jayess with graveside services following in Roberts Memorial Cemetery. Bro. Dale Authement and Bro. Jeffery Conn will officiate the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Tommy Reid was the example of a life well lived. Throughout his life, he was known for his calm, sweet nature. He was 2 legend in his sports life, on the golf course and softball field, in his work life, the fierce way he loved his family and the courageous way he battled cancer. So many times, he faced overwhelming odds with his health, and in true hero fashion fought his way back to the love of his life, his Debbie.

When he became a grandfather, his first Hannah Rebekah, named him Pompom. He wore that title with pride. He became Pompom to a second granddaughter, Bailey Sophia, then his first grandson, Bentley Michael, who is named after him. Zoey Madison is the feisty caboose, and he adored each and every one. He is greeted in heaven by a daughter and 2 grandbabies that he never met this side of heaven. We have no doubt he is rocking, snuggling and laughing with those sweet babies now.

Also greeting him are his parents, Dennis and Merle Reid. He leaves behind his high school sweetheart and wife, the absolute joy of his heart, Debbie. His oldest daughter, Melissa Ownby and her husband Josh, parents of Hannah and Bailey. His middle son, Rocky and his wife Stacey, along with his honorary granddaughter, Lily Grace Smith. His middle daughter, Soon Ferguson, and her husband, Ty, parents to Zoey and Bentley. His youngest son, Will, and his fiancé Brooke Flory, also one brother David Reid of Jayess. There is no way to list the host of friends and family who are left here to miss him. While we are sad for our loss, we all celebrate his final triumph over illness + the complete healing he has in the arms of Jesus.
