Tommy was a sweet, gentle man – kind, generous, and loyal to his friends and family; he never missed a family gathering and he loved his family dearly. He was a proud veteran and loved having the opportunity to serve his country, and was a recipient of the Army's Expert Rifle Badge, Sharpshooter Badge, and National Defense Service Medal. Tommy was a hard worker who loved laughter and life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching SEC football – especially Alabama and Mississippi State. He also liked watching the Titans play. Saturdays in the fall were spent watching ballgames.
To live with Tommy's memory are Sue – the love of his life, who was beloved and devoted to Tommy; his children, Traci Henderson (Phil) and Kim Slayton (Kevin); grandchildren, Kyle Commons, Kurt Jackson, Kandace Scoggins (Miller), Kelsea Stewart (Josh), and Michael Henderson. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren; Klaudia, Sadie Jo, and Kora Jane, Slayton Jace, and Alivia June; as well as one sister, Barbara Rose and a sister-in-law, Hortense Bass. Tommy also leaves behind his bonus family; Marcus Stamps (Pam), Suzanne Monroe, Cami Stamps, Mackenzie Dickinson (Brandon), Mallory Rancudo (Cam), and six great-grandchildren as well as his special friends; Kenneth Lawrence, David Laws, Terry Cleek, and Ann Walker, along with numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents; one brother, Bubba Bass; his grandparents, Edward and Myrtis Butler, and Henry and Annie Bass; his son, Tim Wiser; and an aunt and uncle, Lyda and Gerald Langston.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Monticello United Methodist Church or the Lawrence County Historical Society.
