Mr. Thad Gordon Tynes, 72, was called into the presence of the Lord on May 20, 2015, at his residence in Jayess, MS. Mr. Tynes was born at Tylertown, MS, November 12, 1942, to Mr. Robert Lee Tynes and Mrs. Helen Nelson Tynes.
Visitation will be at Topeka Baptist Church in Jayess, MS on Saturday, May 23, 2015 from 9:00 AM till time of memorial service at 11:00 AM. The graveside service will follow in the Roberts Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Dale Authement will be officiating the services. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Tynes was a Viet Nam veteran and retired from the United States Air Force after twenty years of service. He also served as deputy sheriff of Lawrence County, former volunteer fire fighter, former Silver Creek police chief, and operated Tynes Small Engine Repair in Jayess for many years. He was also a member of the Good Sams Camellia Camping Club and member of the VFW.
Mr. Tynes is preceded in death by his parents and son, Brent Tynes and daughter, Katrina Singletary.
Survivors are his wife of twenty seven years, Theresa Tynes and sons, Scott Tynes and wife Teri of Monticello, MS, Andrew Grant of Brookhaven; brother, Joe Tynes and wife Rhonda of Pontotoc; grandchildren, Alexandria Barton, David Grant, Ayla Grant and Cody Grant along with a host of family and friends.
