Mr. Smitty Joe "Pete" Reid, 77, of Ruth, Mississippi passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021. He was born July 16, 1943, to Ray and Odeal Bullock Reid.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 21 at 11:00 AM at the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, Jayess, MS.

He was a hard-working man, and was retired from Shell Oil Company. Pete had a big heart of love for Jesus, his family, and all animals – especially his sidekick T-Toc. He loved, cared for, and was a friend to all who met him.

Pete is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Mullins Reid, and by his children;  P-Joe Reid and wife Brenda of Ruth; Lisa Rials and husband Bryan of Jayess; and Dee Dee Smith of Bogue Chitto. He also leaves behind one brother, Mickey Reid and wife Sharon; and two sisters, Sandra Kay Britt and Tina Adams, as well as seven grandchildren – Tyson, Kaylee, Taner, Alex Rae, Hunter, Madi Irene, and Jenna. He is also survived by one great-granddaughter Renleigh Mae, and one great-grandson on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
