Shirley Young Monk, 78 was called home from this life on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at Lawrence County Nursing Center in Monticello, MS. Mrs. Monk was born June 15, 1937 in Monticello, MS.
Visitation will be on Monday January 4, 2016 at Wilson Funeral Home from 5:00 -9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be Tuesday January 5, 2016 at11:00 A.M. at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The graveside service will follow in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors are her children, Melanie Sanders and husband Darrell of Monticello; Brittany Bullock and husband Bill of Oakvale; Billy Monk and wife Shelly of Monticello. She is also survived by grandchildren Kelsey Case, Daniel Pierce, Stephanie Monk and Kimberly Anding and seven great grandchildren.
Mrs. Monk is preceded in death by her husband William E. Monk Sr.and her parents Larry and Edna Beeson Young, four siblings Larry, Charles, Diamond, and Willow Dean Young and one great grandchild Braxton Hagen Case.
