Obituary

Carl Samson Caldwell, 68 of Monticello, MS passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025 at the Lawrence County Hospital in Monticello, MS.  He was born Saturday, November 24, 1956 in Dallas, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father, Obie Joe Caldwell; mother, Clarice Reed; brother, Joey Caldwell; sister, Patricia Caldwell.

Survivors include his sons, Josh Caldwell (Erin) and Casey Caldwell (Erin); brothers, Danny Joe Miller, Ricky Caldwell, Dale Caldwell, and Cullen Ray Lambert; grandchildren, CJ Caldwell (Amber), Paige Dennis (David), Logan Caldwell, Taylor Julian, Hunter Holmes, Andrew Caldwell and Mya Caldwell; and eight great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Samson grew up in Kaufman, Texas, where he was blessed with lifelong friendships that shaped so much of who he was.  During his early years in Texas, Samson began his career as a painter and started a family, welcoming his first son, Josh. Later in life, he made his home in Mississippi, drawn to the peaceful rhythm of rural life. There, he raised another son, Casey.

In addition to his devotion to his sons, Samson was passionate about the outdoors, spending his happiest days on a tractor, around a bonfire with friends and family, and in the pasture hunting deer with his grandson, Andrew.  His affinity for fast cars, hotrods, and motorcycles reflected his adventurous spirit and zest for life. His love for fun was infectious, and brought people together, creating memories that will be treasured for a lifetime.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Family and Friends are invited to celebrate Samson's life and reminisce together on Saturday, November 29th, 2025 beginning at 12pm, Casey and Erin's House-171 Johnson Carr Rd, Monticello, MS.
