Rebecca Ann Dawsey, 86, of Monticello passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven, Mississippi. She was born January 7, 1938, in Natchez, MS to William W. and Maxine R. Johnston Chisholm.
Celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello, MS. Visitation is from 11:00 – 1:00. Service is at 1:00 with burial to follow at Wanilla Baptist Church Cemetery in Wanilla, MS. Bro. Jared Hester & Bro. Lee Faler will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, we ask everyone to donate to the Alzheimer's Foundation at

She is now reunited with her high school sweetheart and husband of 59 years, Alvy E. Dawsey, her son Billy Dawsey, and sweet dog, Missy. Rebecca was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a secretary in special education needs for Lawrence County School District for 23 years. Before this, she loved to take part in floral work. Rebecca was also a very talented person in various aspects of life including cooking, sewing, and crafting. In her past time, she loved to read books, travel, garden, play card games, and spend time with her family. Rebecca was a member of Wanilla Baptist Church along with her husband for many years.
Rebecca is preceded in death by her husband, Alvy E. Dawsey; son, Billy Dawsey; father, William W. Chisholm; mother, Maxine R. Johnston Chisholm; and her dog Missy.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are her children Butch Dawsey (Vicky), Mark Dawsey (Becky), daughter, Cindy Dawsey Watson (Tony) of Monticello, MS; grandchildren, Tyson Dawsey (Christy), Will Dawsey (Amanda), BreighAnna Russell (Matt), Rachel Thornton
(Garrett), John Rowells (Victoria), Rusty Rowells (Ashley), Andy Dawsey (Heather), Josh Dawsey, Aaron Watson (Abby), Adam Watson (Kristin), and Elizabeth Watson; brother, Robert Chisholm; 19 greatgrandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Tyson Dawsey, Will Dawsey, Rusty Rowells, Aaron Watson, Adam Watson,
Andy Dawsey, and Josh Dawsey.
We would like to thank The Beehive Homes of Brookhaven Family for loving and caring for our sweet mother. Also, the KDMC staff for going above and beyond to care for her as well. We could not have asked for a better group of people to shower her with love and affection until the
end.
Isaiah 41:10 says, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
