Reba Ann
Hammond
October 1, 1942 – December 2, 2022
The beautiful soul, Reba Ann Hammond, was called home from this life on Friday, December 2, 2022, at her home in Monticello, Mississippi. Reba was born on October 1, 1942, also in Monticello to Johnny A. Evans and Eva Smith Evans.
A visitation will be held at Divide Memorial Methodist Protestant Church, Monticello, MS from 10:00 AM until funeral services begin in the church at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 6. Graveside services will follow in the Divide Methodist Protestant Church Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Reba married her beau, Edward Hammond, April 10, 1966, and they remained married for 51 years until "Ed's" passing in 2018. Reba spent many years as a resident of Hammond, Louisiana where she was a faithful member of New Beulah Baptist Church. Jesus speaks in the book of Matthew about how we should give, giving in secret so that our left hand doesn't know what our right hand is doing. Reba lived this through her actions. She lived her life serving others, with no expectations of anything in return. Through her calls and quick visits with her long list of recipients, Reba spread the love of Christ through her life of giving to others. Reba's kindness, goodness, and fun-loving spirit echo in the words and stories of so many who loved her.
Reba was preceded in death by her husband, Edward "Ed" Hammond; her father, Johnny A. Evans; her mother, Eva Smith Evans; sister, Johnnie E. Strong; and brother, Osborne Evans.
Reba is survived by a niece, nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews, her church family, friends and family who loved her deeply and will miss her greatly. May all who knew Reba continue living a life of giving and loving like her.
Special thanks to Hospice Ministries and the many kind and loving hands who cared for Reba in her final days.
