Friends and family are invited to say a final goodbye at Wanilla Baptist Church on November 19, 2024 with visitation at 9:30 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m.

Rachel Wilson Boyles, age 94, passed away November 15, 2024. She was born on March 16, 1930, to Ray L. and Fannie Wilson. She married Odell Boyles on October 5, 1946, who preceded her in death in 2003.

Rachel loved the Wanilla community and was active in Wanilla Baptist Church. She was known for sharing her love of cooking with her family and friends and especially her chicken and dumplings. Rachel was also known for her sewing, crocheting, and woodworking skills. She loved Nativities. Perhaps her most prized possession was her "Baby Jesus House" that was filled with Nativities from all over the world.

Rachel worked as the secretary for the Sontag Wanilla Water Association until retirement. Upon retirement, Rachel was an avid reader. She also enjoyed watching Jeopardy, doing crossword puzzles, and word searches.

Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13

Rachel will be dearly missed by her brother, Bobby Joe Wilson; daughter, Gayle McCaffrey; son, Donald (Lynn) Boyles; and daughter in law, Gwen Boyles. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Stephanie (John) Purkey and son, Harrison; Michael (Jennifer) McCaffrey and son, Mason; Christy (Daniel) Turner and sons, Hunter and Jake; and Brad (Kayla) Boyles and daughter, Brelynn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Fannie Wilson; brothers Everett Lee (Oddis) Wilson and Paul (JoAnn) Wilson; son, Mark Boyles; and son in law, Greg McCaffrey.

The family would like to thank Lawrence County Nursing Center for their excellent care during her stay. The family gives a special thanks to Kay Dyess for being a loving friend.
