Mr. Laverne Lambert, 87, of Monticello, Mississippi passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Laverne was born September 10, 1936 in Monticello, Mississippi to James Sylvester Lambert and Burneda Watson Lambert.

Visitation will be held at on Sunday, February 4, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Wilson Funeral Home. Funeral services at 12:00 PM at Pleasant Grove Church in Monticello, MS. Graveside services will follow at Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery in Monticello. Bro. Landon Lambert will officiate the services with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Laverne was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He and his wife, Barbara were married for 65 years. He enjoyed working on antique cars, and restoring Yanmar and John Deere tractors. Laverne never met a stranger and loved sharing his stories with anyone who would listen. He was a well-loved lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Church, and was very well-respected in the community.

Laverne is survived by sons: John (Linda) Lambert of Monticello, MS and Tony (Alesa) Lambert of Brookhaven, MS; 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. He also had numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Laverne was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 65 years, Barbara Lambert; daughter, Peggy Calder; grandson, Jacob Brignac; brother, Clifford Lambert.
