Mr. Milton "Pete" Maxie, age 63, was called into the presence of the Lord on June 21, 2015, at his residence in Ruth, MS. Mr. Maxie was born in Prentiss, MS, February 11, 1952, to Mr. Claude Johnson Maxie and Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Cliburn Maxie.

Visitation will be at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello, MS on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM and continue Wednesday, June 24 from 1:00 PM till time of service at 2:00 PM at Providence Baptist Church in Jayess, MS. A Masonic graveside service will follow in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. William Wall will be officiating the services. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pete loved spending time with his grandchildren and deeply loved and took care of his family. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and playing with his puppy-dogs.

Pete is preceded in death by his parents; father in law, Jerry Rutland of Ruth, MS; brothers, Albert Lewis Maxie and Charles Lee Maxie and one sister, Sadie Davis

Survivors are his wife, Sherry Maxie, of 32 years; mother in law, Ramona Rutland of Ruth, MS; son, Shannon Maxie and wife Dehna of Bogue Chitto, MS; daughters, Mona Usher and husband Mike of Fredericksburg, TX, Charra Coleman and husband Brad of Ruth, MS, Jenny Gomez and husband Tony of Ruth, MS; brothers, Dell Maxie and wife Ronnie of San Juan, TX, Bob Maxie and wife Mary of Monticello, MS and one sister, Helen Salminen and husband Harold of Hibbing, MN; eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild and his special companion, Sassy, along with a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers are Steven Maxie, George Maxie, Brad Coleman, Scott Johnson, Matt Maxie, Terrell Rutland, Taylor Rutland and Jason Ard.

Honorary Pallbearers are Wayne Rutland and Claude Cate.
