OBITUARY

Michelle was born on July 4, 1965, in New Orleans, LA and was soon adopted by her parents, William and Eleanor Rando.

In 1983 she met her beloved, James Patrick Evans and was soon wed on July 16, 1983. Their union welcomed the birth of their 3 children, Jonathon Evans, Cheyandan Evans and Joshua Evans.

Michelle dedicated her life to being a doting wife, a cherished mother and the one and only Graneen, not only to her own children and grandchildren, but to many others who found their way to her doorstep. Her loving and caring nature was undeniable to her family as she guided and supported them through the many passions and challenges of their lives. Always the loudest cheerleader and the first willing to provide a shoulder to cry on (with a cup of coffee), Michelle’s table was always open for anyone who just needed someone to listen. The house, she fondly dubbed, Changewinds, has been a sanctuary for many children and families over the years. Through it, Michelle offered home and hearth to those who crossed its threshold. And to many others, she offered wonder and fun in various forms, such as the ever-anticipated fairy festivals during springtime and countless spontaneous cookouts throughout the year. Her pride and joy was to see children running about throughout her house and surrounding land where imagination and creativity were a requisite.

Michelle was gifted with a wonderfully creative nature. A passionate wordsmith, she was welcomed into the National Poets’ Society in 1999, with her work being published among the top poets in the country. She also wrote her first children’s book, The Moon and His Red High Tops, based off a story she often told her children at bedtime. She was best known, however, for her stunning creations as a self-taught seamstress. Whether it was a handcrafted doll or historically accurate costumes, she was often found designing a new outfit for her own personal collection, or various friends and family. Her children all fondly recall falling to sleep countless nights as the rhythmic cadence of her sewing machine sounded from their dining room table late into the evenings.

To say Michelle will be missed is insufficient. Her presence will irreplaceable and her absence will be felt in the lives of those she touched indefinitely.

Michelle was predeceased by her father, William Dominick Rando and her brother Steven Boris.

She is survived by her children Jonathan, Cheyandan and Joshua along with her extended family and grandchildren.
