Obituary

Ms. Mary Frances King, 79 of Brandon, MS passed away on January 14, 2019 at her residence in Brandon; MS. Frances was born April 4, 1939 in Fernwood, MS to Plez Ballard and Lois Yates Comeaux.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 5 PM until 9 PM at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello with funeral services on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Forrest Grove Methodist Protestant Church in Jayess at 11 AM with graveside services following in Forrest Grove Methodist Protestant Church Cemetery. Bro. Jimmy Nations will officiate the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Frances had many occupations and titles, but mainly and most importantly, she was just the boss or matriarch of her family. She is who you went to if you had a question or problem that needed solving.

She was the first female office manager at the Howard Brothers Department Store in McComb in 1972. She ran King Well Service with her husband James for many years while running the Country Kitchen Restaurant at the same time. She started running one apartment complex and then several after James passed in 1993. Around 2000 she started working for the IRS because she was simply a bookkeeper extraordinaire. Her family has seen her look for 2 days because an account balance was off 1 penny. So she was most definitely a perfectionist in her work. She kept the books for Jerry Wayne Smithies Logging Company and her son's used car business. She worked weekends at the Flowood Flea Market selling Cinnamon Glazed Nuts because she loved people in general and the family feels it kept her going. Over the last 15 years of her life, Frances kept the books for Progressive Roofing owned by her baby brother Donnie as she liked to call him, and his wife Anita who was like a sister to her. She enjoyed this period of time as much as running King Well Service. Frances was always about the family and how she could assist the family in doing better. Her family was her life and to know her was to love her

She is survived by her son Michael Dale King and wife Mary Beth of Madison, MS; Granddaughter Victoria King of Madison, MS; Sister Maxine Rutland (Jerry); Brother Donnie Comeaux (Anita); Brother-in-law Malcolm Walker (Sylvia); Sister-in-law Catherine Imel and multiple nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her Parents Husband, James Nolan King; Sisters, Christine Thames and Gearldine Comeaux; Neice, Shelia Davis; and 2 Nephews, Randy Thames and Darion Comeaux.
