Mrs. Mary Aileen Evans, 84, of Sontag, MS passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at her residence in Sontag, MS. Mary was born October 11, 1935, in Lawrence County, Mississippi to Estus and Levonea Douglas Yates.

Graveside services Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at 10AM at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Sontag, MS.  Bro. Andy Fullington, Bro. Ed King and Bro. Jimmy Smith will officiate the services with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mary was retired from Lawrence County Schools as a math teacher for over 34 years. She was a kind-hearted woman who enjoyed caring and providing for others, especially close friends and family. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church for many years where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, and served her church family in many ways.

Mary is survived by her husband, Jim Evans of Sontag, MS; step children Melanie, Wanda, Pat, Jeff, Clayton, and Beth, and many grandchildren.

Those preceding her in death were her parents, late husband J.B. Douglas; one step child Donnie Douglas and 5 brothers.
