Obituary

Marie Street Cliburn, 80 of Monticello, MS passed away Monday, May 13, 2024 at the Lawrence County Nursing Center in Monticello, MS. She was born Sunday, July 18, 1943 in Vernon, Florida. She was the baby daughter of Gegirl I. "Gus" Street and Ruby Ebbie Gainey Street and was one of their eleven children.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 1:00 until 3:00 at New Hope Baptist Church in 618 Carmel New Hope Road, Monticello, MS. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 3:00 at New Hope Baptist Church in Monticello, MS. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Monticello, MS. Bro. Jimmy Harvey will officiate. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 601-587-2573

Marie and Lee O. were married for thirty-six years prior to his death and were the parents of one daughter, Teresa Cliburn Smith. They first lived in Brookhaven, MS, then to Lloyd Star, MS and in 1969, they moved to Monticello, MS. Where they became joint owners of Cliburn's Electric.

Marie was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Lawrence County where she served on various committees with the hostess committee being her favorite.

Some of her favorite hobbies and interests were spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.  She loved drinking coffee and playing bingo.  Marie also loved playing cards at the Senior Life Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee O. Cliburn; father, G.I. Street; mother, Ruby Gainey Street; brothers, Oscar Street (Ft. Walton, FL), I.C. Street (Port Necke, Tx), Jeff "Brown" Street (Panama City, FL), Marvin Street (Vernon, FL); sisters, Elender Monk (Panama City, Fl), Clara Mae Jackson (Mobile, AL), Ebbie Jan Hayes (Bonifay, FL) and Myrtle Street (Vernon, FL).

Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Smith (Mikell) of Monticello, MS; grandchildren, Nicole Jensen and Daniel Smith; great-grandchildren, Miley Jensen, Karson Smith, and Kacie Blanchard; siblings, Lewis "Buddy" Washington Street (Wewa, Fl) and the eldest living sibling, Lois Mae Brock (Brewton, AL). Marie is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Karson Bently Smith, James Brock, Timothy Hayes, Butch Dawsey, Harold Griffith, Tommy Neal, and Tony Thames.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Lambert, Ronnie Pevey, Adam Tanksley, and Chet Dear.

Special music will be performed by Dee Dee Barnes.
