Mr. Lavan Bueal Seales of Jayess, formerly of Wesson, passed away September 1, 2021 peacefully at home. He was born February 23, 1936 to Clinton and Annie Lee Seales in Red Level, AL. He was raised on a cotton farm in rural southern Alabama, the youngest of 11 children.
Following high school, he joined the US Army and was stationed in Germany. Upon discharge, he attended Auburn University and graduated with a degree in Ag Education in 1960. After graduation, he spent 20 years working in the poultry industry. He was a production manger for Sanderson Farms at three locations in Louisiana and Mississippi. He co-owned Casco Chemical Company in Brookhaven for 30 years before fully retiring.
Mr. Seales was a dedicated Sunday School teacher, choir member, and church committee member. He loved the Lord, singing, and serving others through missions. He was award Deacon Emeritus after 50 years of faithful service.
An avid hunter and fisherman, he handed down his love of the outdoors to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a talented turkey call maker and had a passion for gardening.
He is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and five brothers.
Surviving Mr. Seales are his wife of 63 years, Frances Sorrell Seales; his children Lisa Crawford (Jim) of Jayess and Clint Seales (Kate) of Brandon, MS. He leaves grandchildren, Matt Crawford, Jennifer Lusk, Amber Young (Josh), Olivia Seals, and Evie Seales – and great-grandchildren – Kylie Crawford, Alyssa Cannon (Hunter), Peyton Lusk, Brooke Lusk, Kirsten Wade, and Kamden Young. He is survived by two great-great-grandchildren Ella Cannon and Delilah Cannon. Survivors also include one brother, Lomax Seales of Montgomery, AL and a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 3, at the Crawford Family Cemetery in Jayess.
