Obituary

Kenneth M. Bailey Sr., 76, of Monticello, Mississippi, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. He was born to James and Audrey Bailey on January 1, 1950, in Franklinton, Louisiana.

He graduated from Franklinton High School in 1967. He went on to study Forestry and receive his bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University. Early in his forestry career, he realized how much he wanted to run his own business, inspiring him to start the pulpwood company, KC Wood. Later, he owned and operated the Lawrence County Building Supply, with his store serving Monticello community for over 35 years.

He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his family. His ideal evening would be spent barbequing for his family and friends at his home on Lake Mary Crawford, while an LSU football or baseball game played in the background. He was a proud LSU alumnus, but as much as he loved the tigers, he loved helping people more. He had a generous heart and believed in seeing the good in people. He showed this through his support of local youth sports, charitable organizations, and anyone who needed a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Donna Bailey; children, Laura Bass (Kirk), Ken Bailey, Jr. (Melissa), Paul Patterson (Jessica), Michel Deer (Dwayne), and Will Patterson (Shandy); brother, Jay Bailey; sister, Beverly Bailey; and his 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Audrey Bailey.

The family has entrusted Wilson Funeral Home with the arrangements. A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 10:00am - 12:00pm at Bethel Baptist Church with the funeral service beginning at 12:00pm. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church cemetery.
