Ms. Mary Katherine Buchanan, 87, of Monticello, Mississippi passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at her residence in Monticello, Mississippi. Katherine was born December 18, 1934 in Monticello to C.A. and Nancy Miller Smith.

Visitation will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Monticello on Sunday, December 26 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The family will receive visitors again on Monday morning, December 27, from 9:00 AM until funeral services at 11:00 AM at Bethel Baptist Church, with graveside services following in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Michael Smith and Bro. Philip Alford will officiate the services with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Katherine was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She loved to read, crochet, and color, and enjoyed her flowers as well as watching old movies and the Home and Garden Channel.

She is survived by her two sons, Ricky Buchanan (Janice) of Jacksonville, Fl and Andy Buchanan (Angela) of Silver Creek, MS; grandsons, Nathan Buchanan, Tyler Buchanan and Tony Buchanan (Amber); as well as one great-granddaughter Haley Buchanan. She also leaves behind two sisters and one brother; Patsy Foster, Charles Smith (Betty), and Tiny Stephens (Jimmy).

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband Altus Jewel Buchanan; along with a brother and a sister, Joe Henry Smith and Jean McKinley, and a daughter-in-law, Melissa Buchanan.
