Graveside Funeral Services for Joseph Virgil Boone will be on 10:00 AM Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Sontag, MS. Bro. Ed King will be officiating the services with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements, and visitation will be Friday, March 24, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Wilson Funeral Home.
Mr. Boone, 93, of Oma, MS, passed from this life on March 23, 2017, at Copiah County Medical Center in Hazlehurst, MS with his loving family by his side. He was born on April 15, 1923 in Lawrence County, Mississippi to Oscar and Edna Boone.
Virgil was a veteran of World War II and a long standing member of the IUOE Local 624 of Richland, MS since 1957.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Lorene Guess Boone, parents Oscar and Edna Norman Boone, step-mother Ruby Boone Anding, and one brother Herbert Boone.
He is survived by his daughter Ann Boone Channell and husband Jimmy of Oma, MS; son Joe Boone of Sontag; Granddaughters Carrie Channell Smith and husband Clay, Toni Channell and Jake Reynolds.
