Mr. Joe Johnson, 72, of Sontag, Mississippi passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at his residence. He was born September 16, 1949 to Leon and Ethel Douglas Johnson.

Visitation will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church in Sontag on Friday, September 9, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The family will also receive visitors at the church on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 PM. Graveside services will follow in the Shiloh Baptist Church cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Joe, "Paw Paw," loved fishing and hunting, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Joe is survived by his children; Chuck Johnson (Wanda) and Kathy Bowman (Bull), both of Sontag; Francine Hodges (Bowen) of Loyd Star, MS; and Tammy Smith (Larry) of Sontag. He also leaves behind his grandchildren; Shana Kimble (Steven), Trent Hodges, Josh "Opie" Johnson (Sawyer), Jacob Johnson, Kenneth Nelson Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Zach Johnson (Tara), Nikki "Toot-Toot" Smith (Cole), Chad Johnson (Carly), and Trevor "T.T." Bowman; great-grandchildren, Finley, Emersyn, Lucy, Dylanee, Karalee, Tara, Truett, Kynslee, Addi, Lane, and Paxton; his four brothers; Franklin Johnson, Bliss Johnson, Walter Johnson (Theresia), and Alvin Johnson; and one sister, Ernestine LeFleur.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Frances Johnson; and by his sons; Mac "BoBo" Johnson and Nelson Johnson. He was also preceded by his grandsons; Mitchell Hardy and Joseph Florence; his brothers; Roy, Dennis, Paul, J.K., and Mac Johnson; three sisters; Holline Mount, Ernestine Castilow, and Stella Mae Johnson.
