Mrs. Jeanette Foster, 87, of Monticello, MS passed away peacefully at her home, on January 20, 2024. Jeanette was born on October 24, 1936 in Monticello, Mississippi to Marvin Farmer and Lizzie Lee Smith Farmer of Monticello, Mississippi.
Visitation for Mrs. Foster will be Tuesday night at Wilson Funeral Home from 5-9. Another visiting time will be from 10-12 Wednesday at Wilson's. Her Celebration of Life will be at 1PM at New Zion Baptist Church on Wednesday. Brother Jeff Davis will officiate with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of the services.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Billy B. Foster of Monticello; son, Darrell Foster of Monticello; daughter, Tracey Carney (Emery) of Jayess, MS and also, Tammy Thames which was like a daughter to Mrs. Jeanette; granddaughters, Monica Meza of Farmersville, Texas, Molly Foster of Orlando, Florida; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Robert Earl Farmer (Ann) of Lafayette, LA; Herman Farmer (Shirley) of Monticello, MS and Bernice Grimes of Monticello. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Lizzie Lee Smith Farmer; siblings, Inez Jinright, Barbara Ann Fauver.
Jeanette was an active member in New Zion Baptist Church including being the church clerk, VBS worker, member of the choir, chairman of the cemetery committee, a faithful member. She was well known at church as the baby-kisser and would leave her proof in red lipstick. She loved her church family. Jeanette loved to witness and tell others about her Lord. She loved fishing and making fudge for people and showing her love by making food for those in need.
She was a well-known seamstress all over Lawrence County for many years. Jeanette worked at Monticello Cleaners for 43 years and at the same time was a bail bondsman for Hurricane Bonding for 36 years.
