Obituary

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved Jaylen Price, twelve years old. Jaylen was a talented athlete and a beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend to countless individuals. He passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at his residence in Silver Creek, MS. He was born April 25, 2011, in Meridian, MS to Michael Price, Jr. and Brandi Harvey.

Visitation will be held at on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Monticello Baptist Church. Visitation will continue Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM at Monticello Baptist Church in Monticello, MS. Graveside services will follow at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Silver Creek, MS. Bro. Don McClellan and Dr. John Matthews will officiate the services with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Jaylen, lovingly known as "Jaybug" to his family, loved spending his days on the baseball field playing for the Barristers. When not on the diamond, he enjoyed playing basketball both at home and with Brookhaven Academy junior high team. While Jaylen was small in stature, he always gave a giant's effort. He loved all of his teammates and enjoyed every moment spent playing whichever sport was in season. Jaylen also enjoyed spending his time playing video games and making memories with his cousins and many friends.

Jaylen especially enjoyed spending time with his cousins, Taylor, Carter, and Cooper Evans. Jaylen was born only seven months after Carter. This left the two of them with no choice but to become best friends. While they may not have been brothers by birth, each of them considered themselves such. Anytime Jaylen is mentioned, Carter is quick to make it known that he and Jaylen were not "like brothers", but that they were brothers. The two shared a relationship that was magnetic. Jaylen spent countless nights sleeping over in Carter's room. The term sleeping is used loosely as the two of them would talk well into the night even after multiple ultimatums to hush and go to sleep.

Jaylen is survived by his great-grandmother, Mildred Harvey; mother, Brandi Harvey of New Hebron, MS; sister, Breelyn Harvey; grandmothers, Tina Harvey of New Hebron, MS and Regenna Grant of Meridian, MS; grandfather, Thomas R. Harvey. In addition to these, Jaylen is survived by his aunts, Amanda Evans (Benton) of Brookhaven, MS, Jadie Harvey of McComb, MS, and Ashley Williams of Meridian, MS. He is also survived by a host of uncles, cousins, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Oscar T. Harvey, Jr. and his great-great grandmother, Gladys Germany.
