Mr. James "Jimbo" Minton Sr., 69, of Sontag, Mississippi passed away on Monday, September 18th, 2023 at UMMC in Jackson, MS. James was born October 10, 1953 in Corpus Christi, Texas to James Foster Minton and Ernestine Smith Minton.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 9:00 AM until funeral services at 11:00 AM at Shiloh Baptist Church in Sontag, MS. Graveside services will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Sontag. Bro. Jimmy Smith will officiate the services with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Jimbo was an avid hunter, loved to travel and was a fan of NASCAR. Matlock was one of his favorite TV shows. Jimbo lived out a life-long dream of purchasing his grandparents' home and lived out the latter part of his life in Sontag, MS. He was known to never say goodbye, He would say, "Happy Trails".

James is survived by daughters; Jamie Ragas (Lance) and Jan Buras (CJ); one son, James Minton Jr. (Windy); grandchildren, Lance III, Jacob, Carson, Landon, Caitlynn, Chauvin, Camdin, and Jordan; one great grandchild, Caylee Elizabeth; two sisters, Janelle Schultz and Patty Minton. He is also survived by step children and grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James F. Minton, Thomas Minton, and Michael Minton and his wife, Lora Minton. He was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Jace Minton and a stepdaughter.
