Mr. Jackie Eutha Davis, 72, of Monticello, MS passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at his residence in Monticello, MS. He was born August 29, 1947, in Brookhaven, MS to Eutha H. Davis and Martha Ann Hales Davis.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM at Monticello Baptist Church in Monticello, MS. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM at Monticello Baptist Church and the graveside services will follow in Monticello Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Jimmy Harvey and Bro. Sam Taylor officiate the services with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
He was a member of Monticello Baptist Church, he served as Deacon for many years, served on many committees and served as RA leader. Jackie's calling in life was spreading God's Word and living it for others to see. The Gideons of Lawrence County was started in 1969 by Jackie and he was very active with them until his passing. Jackie also was active in the Jail Ministry. His occupation was being a Jeweler and watchmaker and did so for over 50 years. He was the past President of Mississippi Jewelers Association, member of the Lions Club and was Master Mason of the Monticello Lodge. His hobbies were woodworking gardening and traveling.
He is survived by his sons, John Mark Davis of Summit, MS and Nathanel Davis of Monticello, MS; one sister, Mary Ann Martin and husband Greg of Monticello, MS; Granddaughter, Morgann Davis; Nephew, Travis Tyrone and wife Rachel of Monticello, MS.
Those preceding him in death were his wife Sue Hay Davis and his parents Eutha and Martha Ann Davis.
Pallbearers will be the Lawrence county Gideons; Curis K. Brister, John Bull, Billy R. Fraysier, Jerry A. King, W. Hulon McKenzie, Samuel W. Rester and Eric Ladd.
Memorials are requested to be made to the Gideons.
