Ivye Lou Storie Reid passed away surrounded by her family in her home on Sunday, October 18, 2020. There is no way to even begin to describe the legacy of love, joy and kindness she leaves behind. As well as her deep and abiding faith. Just as she waited for him when he was away at war, we know her love Ishmel was waiting at the gates of heaven to welcome her home.
Her reunion in heaven also includes her parents, Walter and Ollie Storie and her brother, Kenneth. Her son in law, Tommy, who she loved with all her heart will be sure to get in line for a welcome home hug as well.
She leaves behind a family who adored her. Her daughters, Debbie Reid and Brenda (Tab) Conn, and her son Michael (Andrea) Reid will miss her every day, but have the best memories of their precious mama. She was fun and creative, always looking for a new adventure and making the best meals, including her famous homemade chocolate pie.
Her grandchildren were blessed to learn the joy of exploring with their granny as they grew up.a true teacher at heart, she was always teaching them something new and sharing her hobbies of painting, sewing and smocking, gardening and beach shell collecting. Her grandchildren include Melissa (Joshua) Ownby, Tabitha (Ryan) Speights, Rocky (Stacey) Reid, Maria (Billy) Verdin, Soon (Tye) Ferguson, Jeffrey (Nicole) Conn, Will (Brooke Flory) Reid and Kaylee (Justin) Pettit.
She was also granny and Gigi to 16 great grandchildren with one on the way.
Oldest of four siblings, she leaves her sweet sister Dorothy (Eugene) Kittinger and her brother Bobbie (Maudie) Storie. Her many nieces and nephews say goodbye to her as well, but share countless memories of their Aunt Ivye over the years.
Thank you to the countless friends who have reached out to share how our mama and granny helped make their lives better. We treasure every single one in our hearts. We were also blessed with amazing sitters and hospice Compassus nurses who because like family and cared for her so well. While she will be greatly missed, we rest in the peace that we will see her again.
