Ida Mullins
Hodges
November 8, 1931 – May 18, 2019
Mrs. Ida Hodges passed away to heavenly home peacefully on May 18, 2019 at the Lawrence County Nursing Center where she had been a resident for the last year and half of her life.
She is the daughter of Oliver Perry Mullins and Carrie Sanders Mullins, but she was raised by her sister and brother-in-law, Mattie Mae and S.M. Thurman after her mother's death when Mrs. Ida was just 2 years of age. She learned to work hard in the crops and field just as others of that era. She started her working life at Kellwood Company, working in Monticello, McComb and Fernwood where she was a seamstress.
After her marriage to Leroy Hodges and raising her children, they opened restaurants serving the people. They both had a love and heart for serving others.
After retiring she took care of family making sure kids, grandkids, and great grandkids were not in need of anything. In other words she spoiled them all. She was always cooking for something or someone. People loved her cakes and Pies.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, 21, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello, MS. Service time will at 2:00 PM at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will follow in the Old Arm Cemetery in Arm Community. Bro. Scott Johnson will officiate the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The Pallbearers are Mike DeWitt, Steven Patten, Randy Grayson and Jordan Grayson. The Honorary Pallbearers are John Carden, Thomas Thurman and Tom Conn.
She is survived by her daughters Diane Hodges DeWitt and Dorris Hodges Lambert of Jayess; one grandson Mike (Marjorie) DeWitt of the Topeka area; granddaughters Angela Strange Stoner (Chris) of Jayess, Alicia Strange of Hattiesburg, Adrienne Strange of Vicksburg and Deidre DeWitt Patten of Dexter. She also has 11 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Preceded in death along with her parents are her spouse Curtis Leroy Hodges, sons Garry Lynn, Larry Glynn, and Curtis Randall Hodges; brothers Ed, Van, Ellis, Claudie, James Everett and Elton Mullins; sisters Clyde (Wylie) Mullins Carden and Mattie Mae (S.M.) Mullins Thurman and son-in-law Thomas Michael DeWill Sr. and also many other family members.
