Henry Shelton Smith, 79 was called home from this life on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at his residence in Monticello, MS. Mr. Smith was born April 17, 1936 in Lawrence County MS, to Henry Lee and Myrtle Ruth Wilson Smith.
Visitation will be at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello, MS on Thursday August 20, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and the service will be at 2:00 PM , Friday August 21,2015 at New Zion Baptist Church, The graveside service will follow in the Church Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Presiding over the services will be The Reverend Andy Fullington and Dr. Joey Faulk. Pallbearers will be Anthony Neal, Charles Neal, Zach Johnson, Scott Walker Langley, J.T. McCoskey and Logan Killingsworth. Honorary Pallbearers Jasper Langley, Jayden Langley, JohnCarter Neal and Hayden Griffith.
Mr. Smith was a second generation logger and enjoyed his logging job. He also loved his family. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church which he loved dearly and he loved to listen to gospel singing.
Survivors are his only son David Shelton Smith of Monticello, MS. Daughters: Lisa LeJune Griffith and husband Kenneth of Monticello, MS. Glenda Faye Berry and husband Jimmy of Rockport, MS. Wanda Jo Johnson and husband Chuck of Sontag, MS. Peggy Lynn Langley and husband Scott of Sontag, MS. He has left behind by two special people his Precious Grace Smith and Sidekick Scott Walker both of Monticello, MS; One sister: JoBeth Smith and husband Garry of Monticello, MS. He has 18 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents: Henry Lee and Myrtle Ruth Smith, his wife: Mildred Lucille McWilliams Smith and sister: Ruth Williamson, Daughter Teresa Mullins, granddaughter Chrissy Lawrence Grandsons Justin Smith and Justin Cumberland.
