Mr. Harold T. McElroy, 83, was called home from this life on Thursday May 31, 2018, at his residence in Monticello, MS. Harold was born January 4, 1935 in Cuba, AL to Lee and Temple Giles McElroy.

Harold was a long time resident of Monticello, MS moving here to start up St. Regis paper mill in 1967 and retired from Georgia Pacific in 1996. He served his country in the United States Army. He was a loving husband and father and will be missed by family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Monticello United Methodist Church in Monticello from until service time at 11:00 AM with graveside services following in Monticello United Methodist Cemetery. Rev. Mike Evans will officiate the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his son Wade McElroy, great-grandson Elijah McElroy.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Jean McElroy of Monticello, son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Debbie McElroy, Zachary, LA; Daughter-in-law Gay McElroy, Monticello; Son and daughter-in-law Brian and Dawn McElroy Pensacola, FL; grandchildren Douglas and Jennifer McElroy, Zachary, LA; Randy and Ellen McElroy, Castor, LA; Morgan McElroy Monticello, MS; Patrick and PJ McElroy Pensacola, FL; great grandchildren Megan Hart, Jordan Westbrook and Jackson McElroy, Zachary, LA; Sawyer and Sadie McElroy, Castor, LA.

Memorials can be made to the Habitat for Humanity of Lawrence County.
