Gladys Daughdrill Smith, 81, was called home from this life on November 15, 2021 due to illness. She was surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Gladys was born August 15, 1940 to Carl Sr. and Estella Daughdrill in McComb, MS.
A visitation will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church on Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 5:30 until 9:00 PM with funeral services to follow at the church on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 2:00 PM. A graveside service will be held in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Gladys was an employee of McLain and Barnes before accepting a job with the Lawrence County School System. She served as a secretary for many years and has touched the hearts and lives of many teachers and students along the way.
Her favorite pastime was spending time with children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Her happiest moments were those surrounded by her family. She loved her family dearly and made each one feel they were special.
Preceding her in death is her husband of 62 years, Shelby Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory include: her children, Donna Martin (Wilburn) of Sontag, Darlene DuBois (Skip) of White Oak, MS, and Dewayne Smith (Cindy) of Sontag. She leaves behind grandchildren: Lance Martin, Bridget Thompson (Chris), Dustin Martin (Aleshia), Stacy Birdwell (James), Emily Lambert (Dennis), Justin Harrington (Anna), and Natalie Case (Jake) – and great-grandchildren: Lane Thompson (Maddy), Brett Thompson, Shelbee Clay Martin, Maren Martin, Waylon Martin, Kenzie Ross, Jack Lambert, Emma Lambert, Lucy Lambert, Kinley Birdwell, Karley Birdwell, Fallon Westerfield (Curtis), Kash Case, Lyda Ann Case, and Ava and Allie Harrington. She is also survived by two great-great grandchildren Bailey Thompson and Lindsey Westerfield.
Also preceding her in death were her two brothers Carl Daughdrill Jr. (Marilyn) and Ben Daughdrill (Ann) of Sontag, and three sisters Geneva Mills (Wesley) of Sontag, Willie Bea Mahaffey (W.A.) of Sontag, and JaLove Calhoun (Lamar) of Jayess.
Granny will be missed by all.
