Georgia Irene Lord, 89 of Monticello, MS passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026 at her residence in Monticello, MS. She was born Sunday, October 25, 1936 in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 11:30 AM until 3:00 PM at Wilson Funeral Home located at 904 W. Thomas E. Jolly Drive, Monticello, MS. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello. Jimmy Harvey and Lee Mathis will officiate. Georgia, also known as Winnie to her siblings, was a homemaker.
She grew up in Gulfport, Mississippi and she met and married her husband Archie A. (Red) Lord and they shared 67 years of marriage together.
Georgia loved to cook, she would make cakes, pies, homemade candy and take to friends and relatives as appreciation for their help and thoughtfulness.
One of her favorite things she made was homemade spaghetti and long fresh cut French fries and pistolette rolls.
She was a friend to many. She loved her family and her Lord and the New Orleans Saints. Georgia loved to cross stitch, color in coloring books and latch hooks and watch game shows.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and we ask for your continued prayers during this time.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Andrea Irene Lord; father, George Ware; mother, Ada Smiley; brother, James Ware; sisters, Dot Polacek, Mary Richards, Leona Brenot.
Survivors include her sons, Archie "Andy" Lord (Vivian) and Robert "Bobby" Lord; daughters, Gwendolyn Dorise Lord Rutland (Tommy) of Monticello, MS and Susan Darlette Lord Carney (Junior); sister, Betty Harris; grandchildren, Candice Warren (Trey), Kacy McKissick (Chris), Stacy Gibson (Jesse), Robert Glen Lord (Leslie), Mallory Buie (John), Jacob Lord (Stephanie), Kelsey Yarbrough (Spencer), Tyler "TJ" Rutland (Hanna), and Mahaila Clay (Dalton); 20 great grandchildren, Ethan, Grant, Aideen, Kate, Elizabeth, Ryleigh, Hayden, Cayleb, Maddox, Cale, Harper, Rose, Katherine, Ava Marie, Kaylee, Reagan, Logan, Anna, Ray, William; her puppies, Pookie and Peppy; Special friends, Rosa Baggett, Teresa Smith, Patsy Wilson, and several other friends.
The family would like to thank her medical staff at Lawrence County Nursing Home, Lawrence County Hospital, St. Dominic Medical Center and Gentiva Hospice Care for the care of our mother.
