Geneva Smith Lewis of Nola, Mississippi, 83, died October 23, 2020.


Geneva was the daughter of the late Edna Farmer and Willie P. "Buddy" Smith. She was born in Lawrence County on October 2, 1937 and raised in the New Zion community.

Geneva attended Monticello High School and was employed with Ward's Restaurant in Monticello for more than 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Hillary Lewis, brother Earl Smith, and brother-in-law Lonnie Lewis.

Geneva is survived by her daughter, Melissa Lewis Mayer, son-in-law Jim, granddaughter Annie, grandson Will, and siblings Frank Smith (Rita) of Utica, Marie Marcus of Thorsby Alabama, Betty Sue Gandy (Daniel) of Linden, Alabama, Carolyn Sauls (Glen), Grady Smith (Susan), Glenn Smith (Patricia), and sisters-in-law Linda Foster and Catherine Lawrence all of Monticello; sister-in-law JoAnn Lewis of Sontag, MS.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church or St. Luke's Hospice in Monticello.
