Fred E. Ellis, 69 of Monticello, MS passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026 on the Viking Neptune Cruise Ship in Tromso, Norway. He was born Friday, May 11, 1956 in Opelousas, Louisiana.
Fred had a passion for the outdoors and lived what many would call a true cowboy life. Whether he was on the golf course, in the woods hunting, or simply enjoying the open air, he found peace in nature and believed life was best lived under the sky, not a ceiling.
To his family, he was a teacher, protector, storyteller, and steady foundation. He led by example — showing his children and grandchildren the importance of loyalty, hard work, and standing by your word. His greatest happiness was time spent beside his wife, sharing life's moments together.
He leaves behind not only memories, but a way of life carried on through those who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Louis Ellis; mother, Eva Mae Savoie Ellis.
Survivors include his wife of over 35 years, Cheryl Lynn Ellis; sons, Fredrick Ellis, Jarrod Ellis, Chester Ellis, Joseph Ellis and Lendon Ellis; 11 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; one sister, Barbara Wojtal; and one brother, Ray Ellis (Georgia Ann).
