Obituary

Erna Roth Bullock was 85 years old when she walked into the arms of Jesus on October 10, 2021.

She was born in Germany on February 19, 1936 to the late Alious Roth and Sophie Roth. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sophie Roth young and her two brothers, Ludwig Roth and Alious Roth.

She is survived by her husband, Tommy Bullock of Silver Creek, her three children, Doris Crider of Monticello, Charles Bullock (Ellen) of Silver Creek and Sandy Farnham (Jeff) of Silver Creek. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Josh Bullock (Stevie) of Brookhaven, Kasia Crider Twiner (William) of Clinton, MS, Kyle Crider of Monticello, Marissa Farnham Cooper (Mark) of Picayune, MS, Nick Bullock (Elise) of Germany, Jacob Farnham (Katie) of Petal, MS and Zack Farnham (Alyssa) of Silver Creek and 11 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Erna grew up in Germany and was a child during WWII. She had memories of the war that were hard to forget but also many good memories of living in such a beautiful country. She often told her family how beautiful the winters were and of the snow capped mountains. She worked as a nanny for American military families stationed in Germany. That is when she started learning to speak English. When Tommy was stationed in Germany while he was in the Air Force, they met through a blind date. They ended up married and came back to the States to live. They settled in Lawrence County where Tommy grew up.

For 30 years they ran a business in Monticello, Bullock's TV and Appliances. This was a family business with almost every family member at some point working there. During that time they raised three children, went to countless ballgames, school and church events. They kept going when the grandchildren came and even the great grandchildren.

Erna loved spending time with her family, cooking delicious meals, reading and shopping with her family. But most of all she loved church and singing in the choir. As recent as Easter 2019 she was part of Bethel's Easter Musical. Erna loved to laugh, and her smile was infectious. She was so proud of her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her passing has left a huge void in our family. But we take comfort in the knowledge that her faith was strong, and because of that faith we will see her again one day.

A celebration of her life will Friday, October 15, 2021 at Bethel Baptist Church in Monticello, MS. Visitation starts at 8:30AM for family, 9:00 for everyone else. Funeral starts at 10:30 with graveside service immediately following at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Prentiss, MS.
