OBITUARY

Steve Buchanan, 69, of Monticello, Mississippi passed away unexpectedly on September 21, 2026, at UMMC Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Steve was born in Tylertown, Mississippi to his parents, Elzy Buchanan and Cathern Stephens Buchanan.

A memorial service will be held at 6 PM at Bethel Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Steve worked many years offshore for Diamond offshore and more recently he retired from MDOT in Monticello. He was an avid outdoorsman with an emphasis on his farm. Steve loved spending time with his family and hobbies. He was a jokester who always had fun. If you knew him, you loved him. He was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church. He will be deeply missed.

Steve was preceded in death by parents, Elzy Buchanan and Cathern Stephens Buchanan; two sisters, Mavis Lambert and Jean Buchanan; a niece, Allie Barkley.

Steve is survived by his wife of 17 years, Pam Buchanan; daughters, Charlie Lawrence, and Tessa Thames (Michael); stepson, Gabe Wood; grandchildren, Kirstie Lawrence, Grace Martin (Tanner), Alyssa Thames (Devin), Steven Thames, Scarlet Thames; great grandchild, Marleigh Grace Martin; sisters, Deb Boyd (Wade), and Sissy Barkley (Earl); nephew, Jeremy Boyd; mother in law, Barbara McCaffery; sisters in law; Penny, Page; nephew and nieces and countless friends.
