Obituary

Edward Harlan Spence, 84 of Monticello, MS passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS. He was born Friday, July 11, 1941 in Tylertown, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church located at 71 Bethel Rd. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 6:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church in Monticello, MS. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Monticello, MS. Dr. Adam Wyatt will officiate. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 601-587-2573

He was a self-employed business man in Monticello and Lawrence County area for over 40 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and western novel reader that passed both of those traits to all of his children, many of his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was married to the late Maureen Spence for over 61 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maureen Spence; father, Edward Ellis Spence; mother, Mollie Stogner Spence; a sister, Sherry Rushing; a grandson, Marshall Jr Phelps.

Survivors include his sons, Allen Spence (Sarah) of Crystal Springs, MS, Andy Spence (Tina) and David Spence (Stephanie); daughter, Emma Spence Herz (John).

Pallbearers will be Jesse Spence, Marcus Watson, Eddie Spence, Adam Williams, Trevor Spence, Eli Spence, and Zach Gibson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Trey Stanley, Max Spence, Weston Spence, and Landon Alderman.
