Dan Webb Dunaway, 80 was called home from this life on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at Kings Daughters Hospital in Brookhaven, MS. Dan was born April 3, 1936 in Lawrence County, MS to Oscar and Grace Alexander Dunaway.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 27, 2017 from 9 AM until 11 AM at Providence Baptist Church with funeral services on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM with graveside services following in Providence Cemetery. Bro. Glen Alexander will preside over the services, Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Dunaway served his country during the Korean War and was a fire fighter while stationed at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, TX. He was a Mason of Jayess Grand Lodge #501and Life Time member of the American Legion and Disable American Veterans. His first job was working in the oilfield, then the construction industry. He was a retired boilermaker and a retired member of the Boilermaker Local 110 out of Hattiesburg, MS. Dan enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and caring for his two dogs Cindy and Jack.
Surviving Dan are daughters Dana Howell and husband Eric of Jayess, MS; Tena Aull and husband Jason of Leland, NC; Lynn McCullough and husband Flint of Jayess, MS; one sister Doris Alexander of Jayess, MS. Also he leaves behind five granddaughters Erin, Lauren, Ashlyn, Kaleigh and Macy and a special friend Mary Boyd of Enon Community.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife of 41 years Nancy Morgan Dunaway, one brother Leo Dunaway and one sister Kathryn Williams.
Pallbearers are Wendell Alexander, Kyle Davis, Lane Davis, Matthew Davis, Gary Dedon, and Tim Houston.
