Mrs. Clara Stephens, 92, of Florence, Mississippi passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Villa South Extended Care in Florence, MS. Clara was born April 27, 1930 in Halls Fork, Alabama to W.M. and Dora Godwin Roley.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 5, 2022 from 5:00 PM until 8 PM at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello, MS, with funeral services on Tuesday September 6, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Wilson Chapel. Graveside services will follow at Stephens Cemetery in Silver Creek, MS. Bro. Mike Grenn will officiate the services with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

If one had to pick one word to describe Granny's life, that word would be "service." Her children cannot remember a time when she was not teaching a Sunday School class, Bible Drill or serving at The Baptist Children's Village or a similar facility in Houston, TX. In her final years she served her Lord as the unofficial chaplain at Villa South, offering a word of encouragement or a listening ear, but mostly her prayers wherever she found a need. She also took great pride in serving her family as she gardened, cooked short-notice meals, canned, doctored abrasions, fed baby calves, offered a word of encouragement or a listening ear… but mostly her prayers whenever she found a need. Her number one concern was that all of her children and grandchildren had a personal relationship with her Lord.

Clara is survived by her children; Fran Douglas (Paul) of Florence, MS, Stan Stephens of Silver Creek, MS, Marty Stephens (Carolyn) of Brookhaven, MS and Carol Williamson (Terry) of Mendenhall, MS; grandchildren, Amy Summerlin, Steven McAllister, Heather Stephens, Hannah Stephens, Landon Stamps, Ashley Stephens, Clint Stephens, Austin Williamson, Tara Williamson and Tori Williamson; 10 great-grandchildren.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents and husband Clinton Stephens, 8 brothers and 8 sisters.
