Charles Ray Powell Sr., 89 was called home from this life on Sunday, October 9, 2016, at his residence in Jayess, MS. Mr. Powell was born August 4, 1927, in Jayess, MS to Oliver and Louetta Boyd Powell.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 14, 2016 at Topeka Baptist Church in Jayess, MS, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Saturday, October 15, 2016, from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at 10:00 AM at Topeka Baptist Church. The graveside service will follow at Powell Family Cemetery. Rev. Dale Authement, and Slade Powell will be officiating the services. Wilson Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Powell was a member of Topeka Baptist Church in Jayess, MS. He served his country in the US Navy. He worked as a tool pusher in the Oil Industry for 35 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cattle farming and spending time with his family. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother, paw paw, great paw, uncle and friend.
Surviving Charles are his children, Patricia Gummoe (Will) Vacaville, CA, Charles R. Powell Jr. (Wanda) Jayess, Richard Powell (Mary) Jayess, Marsha Everett (Al) Jayess, Donna Small (Mike) Sontag, Wayne Powell (Genie) Jayess and Renee Smith Jayess, sister, Nell Lee of West Monroe, LA. Preceding him in death were his parents, Oliver and Louetta Boyd Powell, Wife, Bennie Lee Powell brothers, Alton F. Powell and Otis W. Powell; sisters, Marjorie Brown, Olline Jacobs, Mary Immogene Powell and son-in-law Dale Smith.
