Catherine Lawrence, 86, of Monticello, Mississippi passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on March 4, 2025, after a brief illness. Catherine was born July 29, 1938 to Julius and Annie Nelson. Catherine was a homemaker, devoted wife and mother to three sons and a faithful servant to the church and her Lord.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Monticello Baptist Church at 700 E. Broad Street, Monticello, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 06, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Monticello Baptist Church in Monticello, Mississippi. Burial will follow at New Zion Cemetery in Monticello, Mississippi. Bro. She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Elwood and Farris Nelson; husbands: Earl Smith and Robert Lawrence.

She is survived by her brother: Dwight Nelson (Carla) of Lafayette, LA.; sons: Dennie Smith (Janice) of Monticello, Mickey Smith (Sandy) of Crystal Springs, and Phillip Smith (Angie) of Monticello. 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
