Burnell Rutland, 79 of Ruth, MS passed away Monday, February 17, 2025 at her daughter's residence in Ruth, Mississippi. SHE was born March 14, 1945 in Lawrence County, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Providence Baptist Church in Jayess, Mississippi from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The Funeral will be at Providence Baptist Church on February 20, 2025 at 12:00 pm.

Burnell was a security guard for 8 years. She went to college and received an associates degree. She went to work at Shell McKittrick Kern Ridge, and became their office manager. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. To know her was to love her. She really was a special person.

Burnell is the mother of Michael Larry Morgan, the late, John Mitchell Morgan, and Rosalind Michele Morgan Wells. She was also the mommie of Brandon Mitchell (Mitch: Ain) and Wendy Oma Lee Nations (special niece).

She is survived by: her son, Michael (Cindy) Morgan; daughter: Michele (Billy) Wells; Mitch (Ain) and Wendy Nations (special niece); grandchildren: Christy Nicole Ward, Misty and Cortney, Rebecca (Ryan) Brignac, Shannon Morgan (Nick Little), and Ana Wells, Jesse, Brook, and Declan Wells; great grandchildren: Zoe Berthelot, Demi Deslatte, Jordan Gravios, Jr., Jax Morgan, Gayelyn Marie, Robbie, Jerome Terrell, Jesse Harvey; great-great grandchildren: Isaiah and Lucas Terrell; sisters: Juanita Beard Winters, Dora (Roger) Nations; brothers: Danky (Sharon) Rutland, Harry Rutland, and Larry (Mitzi) Rutland. She is also survived by special friends: Judy Kay, Clara Harrington, Theresa Brazell, Connie Barnett, Wanda Thrasher, and Raymond Lee.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Cabe Rutland and Oma Lee Hampton Rutland; her son, Mitchell; her brothers, William Marion (Buddy) Rutland and Patrick (Pat) Rutland; her maternal grandparents: Justie and Daniel Hampton; her paternal grandparents: William (Bill) Rutland and Annie Mae Ham Rutland.
