Bobbie Dean
Carney
July 22, 1940 – February 22, 2019
Bobbie Dean Robbins Carney passed from this life February 22, 2019 at Billdora Senior Care in Tylertown.
Bobbie was born July 22, 1940 at home in Lawrence County to Fred and Lexie B. Lawrence Robbins. She is preceded in death by her husband Billy G. Carney, her parents and her brother Freddie Monroe Lawrence Robbins.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM) at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello and continuing Monday, February 24, from 9:00 AM until service time at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 in Monticello with graveside services following in Tilton United Methodist Church Cemetery. Bro. Creighton White will officiate the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Bobbie loved getting her hands dirty working in her yard and growing a garden while she was able. She loved planting flowers and trees and was teased by those who loved her about having something planted every three feet making it extremely tedious to mow.
She is a long time member of Tilton United Methodist Church where at different times of her life taught Sunday school, bible school and held positions on various church committees. She loved her church family. The Topeka Tilton Outreach Mission held a special place in her heart and she helped as much as she could.
Bobbie was also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Another love of hers was the Lawrence County School System. She began working at Topeka Tilton Attendance Center as a teacher aide as soon as her children were in school. She later became the secretary there and continued for many years. She had the opportunity to work at what was then known as the Lawrence County Vo-Tech Center as a secretary then moved to the school administration offices as Food Service secretary. She dedicated her life helping to raise a lot of Lawrence County kids. While out and about before and after retirement she would refer to the "kids" she would see as "that's one of my kids." To attest to her love of the school system when she first went in to Billdora if she could get to the phone before the employees, she would answer the phone "Topeka Tilton School." It would definitely confuse folks calling in.
After retirement she traveled some with friends and became an avid Domino player even winning a trophy. She truly enjoyed "Game Days" at various churches and with friends. She played cards and dominos with new and old friends in both Lincoln and Lawrence County.
Bobbie loved her family and spent as many hours as possible enjoying, caring for and listening to her girls, sons-in law, husband, brother and sister-in-law, grandchildren and great-grand's.
She is survived by her daughters Patsy Cothern (Joel), Peggy Rutland (Joey) and Donna Stuckey (Dan); seven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren Karen Slater (Rusty), Russell, Nora, Lexie, Grace; Kathy Holmes (Jamie), Connor, Hayden; Kim Langston (Josh), Michael, Morgan, MaKayla, Maddie; Chase Rutland (Courtney), Valeree, Chloe, Sara, Junior; Daniel Stuckey (Dyana), Matthew, Willie; Jamie Stuckey (Sarah), Ainsley; Vanessa Tullis and Knox.
