Ms. Billye Cothern, 96, of Ruth, Mississippi passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at her daughters' residence in Ruth, MS. Ms. Billye was born October 3, 1924, in Lawrence County, Mississippi to William and Madge Gunnell Huguley.

Ms. Billye was the epitome of grace and class, a friend to all who knew her, a lover of Jesus, and the absolute best momma and mawmaw anyone could be blessed to have. College football will never be the same, but heaven just gained a little more purple and gold. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Jayess. She will be missed by everyone here, but we find comfort in knowing there is a great reunion in heaven.
Ms. Billye is survived by her children, Danny Cothern of Slaughter, Louisiana, Joe Cothern (Dee) of Watson, Louisiana, Sheila Cothern of Topeka, Mississippi, and Sandra King (Eddie) of Topeka, Mississippi; one sister, Ramona Hurt of Jackson, Mississippi; grandchildren, Madonna Pendarvis, Joey Cothern, Billy Cothern, Robin Cothern, Matt Cothern, Meredith Davis, Shane Bullock, Shannon Bullock, and Shelly King; and 21 great grandchildren.
Those preceding her in death were her parents, husband Dulith Cothern and siblings Dixie Huguley Dewitt and Pat Huguley.
The family wishes to thank St. Luke Home Health and Hospice, and special caregivers Heidi Smith, Jaci Montgomery-King and Vella Coleman.
