Obituary

Mrs. Billie Jean King, 89, was called home from this life on June 15, 2018, at Lawrence County Nursing Center in Monticello, MS. Billie was born August 9, 1928 in Lawrence County, MS to William Elmer and Amanda Rhea Wilson Garner-Wells.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM at New Zion Baptist Church in Monticello, service time at 11:00 AM with graveside services following in New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Paul Stephens and Bro. Jeff Davis will officiate the services, with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. King was a devoted member of the New Zion Baptist Church and the Ladies Sunday School Class for many years. She loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. She was a loving friend, mother, and grandmother. Her sense of humor and joy in life will be missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Allen Newman King, and one great grandson, Joshua Dean Thurman.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters Shirley and husband Herman Farmer of Monticello, MS; Bobbie and husband Jimmy Thurman of Monticello, MS and Glenda and husband Joe Dickerson of Vestavia Hills, AL; 8 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
