Obituary

Belford R. Speights, 81 of Monticello, MS, died Friday,December 6, 2013 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2pm, on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Carmel Baptist Church in Monticello, MS. Burial will be in Carmel Baptist Church. Wilson Funeral Home of Monticello, MS is in charge of arrangements. 601-587-2573

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 5-9pm at Wilson Funeral Home .

Mr. Speights was a member of Carmel Baptist Church. for over 50 years, during this time the served in many different capacities, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent of Sunday School, serving on many committees not to forget many hours of hard labor building of the Children's Department, and the Cemetery.
He had a love to cook and when he was able he cooked for the brotherhood at the church serving breakfast and we can't forget his dumplings that everyone enjoyed so much. Belford, enjoyed his life fully and enjoyed so much to travel, a devoted veteran of the U.S. Navy and enjoyed telling about his time in the service where he traveled all around the world. A very devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all. A gardener who enjoyed raising it not only for his family but sharing with others.
