Obituary

Funeral services for Arthur H. King will be on Monday, July 6 2020, at New Hope Baptist Church in Monticello, MS at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Bro. Kevin Crosier will be officiating the services with Wilson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at New Hope Baptist Church on Monday, July 6, 2020, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.

Mr. King, 95, of Monticello, MS, passed from this life on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at the Aspen of Brookhaven Living Center. He was born on June 15, 1925 in the Center Community, Monticello, MS, to William Elisha and Maggie Ballard King.

Mr. Arthur served in the United States Army during World War II receiving the Purple Heart and Good Conduct metals.  After he returned from service, he went to Colin Junior College.  He began a career as a chemist and started working for the Good Year Company in 1956 until retirement in 1985.  When retiring he moved back to his home in Lawrence County, Mississippi, were he began to be an avid hunter, fisherman an golfer.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters Fay Lambert, Tera Griffith and brothers, Dewey, Clell and Elzen King.

Survivors are his son James King; daughter Peggy Bennett and husband Michael Sr. four grandchildren, Michael Bennett Jr.,  Jeff King, Karen King ,Tammy and husband Terry Fredrick and the Fredrick children and grandchildren; five great grandchildren, Sophia King, J.D. West, Kayla West and Dennis Jr., Haley Bennett, Michael Bennett III;  three great great grandchild, Laylah West, S.J. Ladnier and Dennis Kubiak III; one sister Ruth Smith; one brother Carl King and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to: New Hope Baptist Church, 618 Carmel New Hope Road, Monticello, MS 39654, or The Veteran Services, Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Henley Building, P.O. Box 649, Wesson, MS 39191.
