Alice "Big Mama" Hodges 92 was called home from this life on Sunday, October 4, 2015, at her residence in Jayess, MS. Mrs Hodges was born November 7, 1922 in Lawrence County , MS to Esco Boyd and Bessie Walker Boyd.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at Providence Baptist Church from 5:00 -9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be Wednesday October 7, 2015 at 1100 A.M. at Providence Baptist Church. Brother Jeff Davis will be officiating. The graveside service will follow in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Hodges was a member of Providence Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family, she also enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.
Survivors are her children, Norma Dunaway and husband Jerry of Byram, MS. Linda Humphrey and David Bryant of Jayess, MS, Joe Hodges of Jayess, MS, Judy Webb and husband Paul of Pearl, MS, Ricky Hodges and Chris of Jayess, MS, Bobby Hodges and Angie of Jayess, MS, Terri Alexander and husband Terry of Jayess, MS, Phil Hodges of Jayess, MS and Lane Hodges of Jayess, MS. Also leaving behind 14 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 15 great- great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Esco Boyd and Bessie Walker Boyd, husband Delos Hodges, 3 children Donald Hodges, Cherry Miller, and Tommy Hodges, 1 granddaughter Cindy Harper, and 1 great grandson Josh Dunaway.
